Renowned industrialist and technocrat K.P.P. Nambiar, 86, died at his residence in Dollars Colony here on Tuesday. He was suffering from various illnesses.

He was credited with establishing Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (Keltron) in 1973. He was its first MD and Chairman. He was awarded Padma Bhushan in 2006.

In 1985, Mr. Nambiar retired from Keltron, and was appointed chairman and managing director of Indian Telephone Industries Ltd. In 1986, he was appointed Secretary, Department of Electronics, Government of India. He retired from government service in 1989.

The funeral will be held in Kannur on Thursday. — Staff Reporter
