KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala has said that neither will Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan be moved out nor is there the possibility of a Cabinet reshuffle any time soon.
Talking to reporters here on Saturday, Mr. Chennithala said he and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had not held any discussion on the fate of the Home Minister. The party also had not discussed it, he said.
“I don’t think the Home Minister has done anything wrong until now. Our meeting with the Home Minister the previous day was regarding the progress of the inquiry into the solar case. There are absolutely no issues with his continuance as the Home Minister.”
Mr. Chennithala said the ADGP had been asked to inquire into the leak of telephone call list of Ministers. Mere phone calls would not establish the role of Ministers and politicians in the solar case.
What should be verified was whether the government had assisted the fraudsters in any way, he said
Admitting to some issues among the constituent parties of the UDF, including the Indian Union Muslim League, Mr. Chennithala said that they should be resolved through discussions. The UDF, he said, should stand united in facing issues.
Advice to George
The KPCC chief had a tough message for Government Chief Whip P.C. George. He wanted Mr. George to display more maturity and patience while handling the issues faced by the government and the United Democratic Front.
Mr. Chennithala said that the chief whip need not feel compelled to comment on every other topic under the sun; he should be aware of his responsibility and act accordingly.
The KPCC chief accused the Left Democratic Front of indulging in dirty politics. The Opposition, he said, was pointing fingers at the government to divert the attention from other issues.
