Kottayam jump-starts plan implementation

: The plan implementation process in the district was formally inaugurated on the first day of the new financial year on Wednesday.

The formal inauguration of the plan implementation for the year 2015-16 was held by launching the Cherukunnu drinking water project in Pampady block. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Minister for Transport inaugurated the inaugurated the work on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the District Planning Committee (DPC) in its last sitting for the year 2014-15, gave approval for plans from 22 local bodies in the district, taking the number of approved plans to 36 local bodies.

Kaduthuruthy, Lalam, Pallom, Ettumanur, Vaikom, and Uzhavoor, block panchayats and Meenachil Teekoy, Vazhoor, Ayarkunnam, Thalanadum Kanjirapplly, Melucavu, elikkulam, Aymanam, Parathode, Bharananganam, Mundakkayam, Kadanad, Kooroppada, Chirakkadavu, and Thidanadu grama panchayats got their plans approved on Tuesday.

The DPC has asked these panchayats to commence the work on plan implementation on the first day of the new fiscal itself. The local bodies which have not got their plans approved so far, would have to get them approved by April 3, it has been directed.

With local bodies getting their plan approved at an early stage, the perceived plan holidays could be averted this year, it has been pointed out.
