Konni medical college to be ready by November

Classes for MBBS course to begin in 2016, says Revenue Minister

The seventh government medical college in the State will be ready for commissioning in the next one year, Minister for Revenue Adoor Prakash has said.

Talking to The Hindu , Mr. Prakash said that the civil work on the medical college hospital was fast progressing at Perinjottackal, near Konni.

Inauguration

The Minister inaugurated the concrete work of the main slab of the ground floor of the medical college building on Thursday morning.

Construction firm

Bangalore-based construction company Nagarjuna Constructions has undertaken the construction work of the facility.

Mr. Prakash said that the company had set the target to complete the civil work of the five-storey (each floor with a plinth area of 20,000 sq ft) building in November.

Construction of the academic block of the medical college hospital too is progressing simultaneously on the same compound.

The Minister takes time to personally and regularly review the progress of the work every two weeks.

Road link to Pampa

Mr. Prakash said that the development of three roads linking Perinjottackal with the district headquarters of Pathanamthitta as well as Pampa too would be ready by the time the medical college hospital was ready for commissioning.

The three roads to be developed are: Pampa- Angamoozhy- Seethathode- Chittar- Konni, Pathanamthitta- Konni- Muringamangalam- Perinjottackal, and Pathanamthitta- Vetoor- Perinjottackal, he said.

The Minister also said that regular classes for the MBBS course at the new medical college hospital will begin in 2016.
