Kodiyeri slams Centre

May 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - KOTTAYAM:

CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has stressed the need for the trade unions to join hands in the struggle against corporatisation.

He was speaking at Pampady near here on Friday as part of May Day celebrations.

He alleged that the Central government’s ‘Make in India’ programme was a ploy to sell the nation’s wealth to transnational corporates. The Union government was planning to hand over agricultural land to corporates and it was moving ahead with the land acquisition bill for this purpose, he said.

He said the government also wanted to amend the Forest Rights Bill to help the corporates.

CPI(M) district secretary V.N. Vasavan presided. Left Democratic Front (LDF) convener Vaikom Viswan and others also spoke.
