KGS Aranmula Airport Company Limited has maintained that the company did not have any constraints on purchasing land for the proposed greenfield airport project at Aranmula.
In a statement here on Thursday, P.T. Nandakumar, executive director of the company, said the ceiling of 15 acres of land for keeping in the possession of an individual land-holder as per the existing laws was not applicable to the proposed airport project.
Mr. Nandakumar said exemption was given to educational establishments to hold land in excess of 15 acres as per the provisions in the Kerala State Land Utilisation Act.
The Government Order (GO) (No. 1262/2010) of October 9, 2010, has given no-objection certificate for the airport project, permitting the company to acquire 500 acres of land required for the same, he said.
The GO said the company could acquire the land required for the project as per the prevailing laws. So far, the company had registered a total of 350 acres of land in its name and the government order had exempted it from the 15-acre land ceiling, he said.
He said the company would implement the project in strict compliance with all the prevailing laws of the land.
