‘Kettukazhcha’, the ceremonial display of decorated chariots, wooden horses, bulls, etc, in connection with the annual Kumbha Bharani festival at the ancient Bhagavathy Temple at Ezhamkulam near Adoor was held with religious fervour on Tuesday.
Hunderds of people assembled at the temple grounds to witness the ceremony.
Thookkom vazhipadu
The ritualistic ‘Garudan Thookkom’ and other ‘Thookkom’ offerings to the presiding deity as part of the annual festival will be held on Wednesday.
According to the temple authorities, Thookom is a ritual reminiscent of the human sacrifice (Narabali) of the yore and not less than 500 offerings are expected to be held on Wednesday.
