The Kettukazhcha, a splendid display of decorated chariots as well as colourful wooden images of horse, bulls, and so forth, was held in connection with the annual Kumbha Bharani festival at the ancient Bhagavathy Temple at Ezhamkulam near Adoor on Saturday.
Hunderds of people assembled at the temple grounds to witness the ceremonial display of towering chariots on Saturday afternoon.
The ritualistic Garudan Thookkom and other Thookkom vazhipadu as part of the annual festival will be held on Sunday.
The Thookom is a ritual reminiscent of the human sacrifice (Narabali) of yore and as many as 500 Thookkom will be held at the temple on Sunday, according to temple devaswom authorities.
The ritual will begin on Sunday morning and will last till evening.
