Kerala-model of decentralisation lauded

: More than 20 countries in the Asia-Pacific region have expressed interest in implementing the Kerala- model of democratic decentralisation.

Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA) Director P.P. Balan presented the achievements of Kerala in the decentralisation process at a conference held at the Philippines relating to local administrations in Asia-Pacific countries recently.

Representatives from Cambodia, Indonesia, Mongolia and Thailand expressed keen interest in the Kerala model of bottom-up development programmes.
