The State government has decided to bring in legislation to regulate flex boards that have of late come to swamp the Kerala landscape.
“The Bill will regulate flex boards, as well as plastic,” Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said while briefing mediapersons after a meeting of the Cabinet that took this and a few other decisions on Wednesday.
He said the drive against flex boards would start immediately as part of Gandhi Jayanti observance. “The first to go will be those with our photographs,” he said, apparently referring to flex boards promoting politicians and political parties, which form a significant chunk of those covering the landscape.
He said flex boards that carry permits of local bodies would be allowed to stay only till the term of the licences they carried ended. After that, they too would go.
