A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Wednesday rejected the petitions filed by LDF convener Vaikkom Viswan and CPI MLA V.S. Sunil Kumar seeking to register a First Information Report (FIR) against Finance Minister K.M. Mani in the bar bribery case.

Dismissing the petition, the Bench consisting of Acting Chief Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice A.M. Shaffique observed that it was the discretion of the Director of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau to decide whether to file an FIR or not in the case.

While recording the submission made by Advocate General K.P. Dhandapani that a report on the Quick Verification Report would be ready within a week, the court asked the Vigilance Director to consider it and decide whether to file an FIR or not. Mr. Dhandapani also said that the inquiry report would be filed next Monday.
