Kerala Govt. to take over Cochin Medical College

The college will now come under the administrative control of Department of Medical Education.

Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday decided to take over the Kochi cooperative medical college.

The college, run by the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education, will now come under the administrative control of Department of Medical Education.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the media after the Cabinet meeting that a committee with principal secretaries of Health, Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Finance and Cooperation and Director of Medical Education would take decisions on fixing the wages and service conditions of the existing staff of the college on transfer to government.

Principal Secretary (Health) Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), Collector of Ernakulam and Medical Superintendent of College would be asked to determine the liabilities of the college.

The Chief Minister said that the proposal to take over the cooperative medical college at Pariyaram was yet to come for consideration of the government after scrutiny.
