Kerala Govt seeks Central assistance for flood relief operations

The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to seek Central assistance for flood relief operations in the State. The losses caused by the heavy rain and floods last week would be determined and memorandum submitted to the Centre for assistance for providing compensation and relief work.

The Cabinet also decided to curtail the operations of all quarries functioning in the State without all the required licences. At the same time, quarries with the required legal clearances would be allowed to function, an official spokesman said.
