The State government will honour playback singer K.J. Yesudas with a Lifetime Achievement Award, Culture Minister K.C. Joseph told the Assembly on Monday.
Replying to a submission by Hibi Eden (Congress), Mr. Joseph said the government could not confer any title on Mr. Yesudas as the Constitution did not permit any such decision. However, the government was keen that the singer should be honoured for his contribution to music and various other social causes, he said.
Now Yesudas should be honored with Bharat Ratna. He is currently the greatest singer. Government should do this as soon as possible.
In 1961 Yesudas’s first voice recorded in 'Kaalpadukal'.
In 1973 he got first National film award in Malayalam.
In 1975 Govt of India awarded "Padma shri"(Kerala State).
In 1976 3rd National film award in Hindi
In 1980 Film Fare award for Bollywood Film Industry.
In 1980 Established music company 'Tharangni Studio'
In 1982 4th National film award in Telugu
In 1989 First D. Phil by Annamalai University.
In 1992 Sangeeta Nataka Academy award from Indian Govt.
In 1994 His 7th National Film award, the most by any Indian singer.
In 1999, UNESCO presented Award in "Outstanding Achievements in Music and Peace" in Paris.
In 2001 Launched International multilingual album ‘Ahimsa’.
In 2002 Govt of India awarded "Padma Bhooshan”(Tamil Nadu).
In 2006, 16 film songs in four South Indian languages on the same day at AVM Studio.

In 2010 Latest Kerala State film award (2009)
In 2011 Karnataka film industry celebrated his 50 years in playback singing
Please recommend his name for Bharat Ratna. He is one of the real living super ratnas of
this country.
Kerala government should also take initiative to nominate Yesudas for Bharat Ratna considering the fact that he has done so much for the society and still continue to do so apart from providing the greatest of great contributions to the indian music from the past 50 Years.
It is really a great decision that govrnment tooks to honour him, especially he is comleting his 50 years with music life.
Extreamly happy to know this. Yesudas is the voice of music and this is a very good gesture by the kerala state government.
