The Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate on Monday dismissed a bail plea moved by actor Dileep, an accused in the actor abduction case.

The court observed that considering the gravity of the offence, he can only apply for default bail after 90 days of investigation. As per the remand report, Dileep had conspired with ‘Pulsar’ Suni, the first accused, to videograph the nudity of the victim in furtherance of the conspiracy to abduct and sexually assault the actress on February 17. This was the fourth time the actor had filed a bail application ever since his arrest more than three months ago. Dileep has been lodged in the Aluva sub-jail since July 12.

Hearing on Kavya’s plea

Meanwhile, the High Court directed the prosecutor to file a statement in response to an anticipatory bail petition moved by Kavya Madhavan, film actor and wife of Dileep. She approached the High Court fearing arrest in connection with the case.

When the petition was taken up for hearing, the Director General of Prosecution (DGP) submitted that she had not been arraigned as an accused so far. The court asked whether she had been made a witnesses in the case and the DGP submitted that she had been questioned on several occasions. The court then asked the DGP to file a statement in this regard. The court adjourned to September 25 for further hearing.

SIT on Nadirsha

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case informed the High Court that during interrogation, filmmaker Nadirsha had suppressed many facts which have been proved otherwise.

In a statement filed in response to Nadirsha’s anticipatory bail petition, Baiju Poulose, Investigating Officer, said his answers to the questions about his role had not been satisfactory.

Further verification was being done with respect to his answers. The petitioner had not been made an accused so far and he need not be arrested at present. When the bail petition was taken up for hearing, the court asked the prosecutor to furnish the material collected by the police against Nadirsha in a sealed cover.

Suni’s bail plea

The High Court directed the prosecutor to inform about the antecedents of Suni, the prime accused. The court issued the directives when Suni’s bail petition came up for hearing.
