Chief Minister Oommen Chandy formally inaugurated the 24x7 call centre in his office this morning.

People can submit complaints or suggestions through the call centre which can be accessed from all over the world.

As the Chief Minister inaugurated the call centre, one of the first calls was about a bride who had gone missing in the Gulf six years ago. Her husband had taken her to Dubai immediately after their marriage and within days she had gone missing. The police apparently could not extract much information from the husband who is now in the United States.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy after consulting the Director General of Police Jacob Punnoose, who was with him, announced that the Crime Branch would be entrusted with further investigation of the case.

Chief Minister told the media that the government was undertaking this as a mission to increase the credibility in the system and people’s confidence in democratic governance. It might not be possible to redress all the complaints to the satisfaction of the complainants. However, the call centre would open up a forum to address their complaints and get a response. “People can also raise issues and give suggestions; and the government will listen.”

Mr. Chandy said that every complaint would be treated with the importance it deserved. The cooperation of all departments of the government was required for that, and he hoped that they would cooperate to the fullest extent.

The call centre will function in three shifts. It can be reached on the toll free number 1800 425 1076. BSNL subscribers accessing the number locally need dial only 1076 while those dialing from abroad should add the STD code (0471 1076). Complaints can also be submitted in writing through the website www.keralacm.gov.in
