Kerala Cabinet granted Rs. 25 crore additionally to the State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Wednesday to tide over its financial problems.
With this the total grants to the KSRTC during this financial year rose to Rs. 100 crore, in addition to the original Budget provisions.
The Cabinet authorised Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to appoint a one man commission to study the problems related to backwardness of Nadar community.
It also formed a subcommittee to deal with issues connected with waste management in the State. Minister for Urban Affairs Majalamkuzhi Ali is its convener. Finance Minister K. M. Mani, Industries Minister P. K. Kunhalikutty, Health Minister V. S. Sivakumar, Excise Minister K. Babu and Minister for Panchayats M. K. Muneer are the other members.
The Cabinet gave administrative sanction to the proposed Natural Fiber Park in Chavara Panchayat, to be funded from the asset development fund of local member of the Assembly and Minister Shibhu Baby John. The Park, costing Rs. 2.5 crore, would come up on 41.08 ares belonging to the Kollam district panchayat.
It permitted revision of estimates and re-tendering of 43 road works under the PMGSY project that had no takers. The estimates will now be revised at PWD rates notified in 2012, an official release said.
