KC(M) heading for split, says P.C. George

Kerala Congress supremo K.M.Mani’s decision to seek the support of the CPI(M) in the elections to the Kottayam district panchayat will lead to a split in the party, with Mr.Mani and his son isolated from the other leaders, Independent MLA P.C.George said here on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference, Mr.George said the shameful decision to hobnob with Mr.Mani would cost the CPI(M) dearly in Kottayam district.

Mr.George, who had broken away from the KC(M) to form his own outfit, termed Mr.Mani’s decision to snap ties with the Congress in Kottayam as a betrayal of trust and backstabbing.

Pointing out that other KC(M) leaders such as P.J.Joseph, Mons Joseph, Roshi Augustine, and C.F.Thomas had reasserted their faith in the UDF, he asked them to come clean on their stance in the wake of the new-found relations with the CPI(M).

“How can the CPI(M) afford to hobnob with Mr.Mani after targeting him in the bar bribery case, unless it has become his beneficiaries?,” he asked.

“The change of stance could not have happened without the knowledge of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and party secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. CPI(M) leaders will find it difficult to explain their position,” he said.
