The Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) and Aleksandras Stulginskis University (ASU) of Lithuania will join hands to promote academic cooperation.
The decision to have exchange programmes of students and faculty between the universities was taken at a meeting between KAU Vice Chancellor R. Chandrababu and an ASU delegation headed by Raimundas Rukuisa and Rolandas Domeika at the KAU headquarters recently. “It is easier to associate with Aleksandras Stulginskis since it is a State-owned university. Students from Lithuania can apply for KAU courses as well. We will work out an MoU for the exchange programmes and dual degree programmes,” Mr. Chandrababu said.
Fee waiver
Prof. Rukuisa said that agricultural students sponsored by the KAU can get the tuition fee waived and also apply for State grant.
“The degrees and diplomas awarded in ASU are recognised world over. We have B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD courses in agriculture, forestry, climate change and sustainable use of natural resources, water and land resources management. We are willing to establish a close connection with KAU for offering dual degree or even transfer credit systems. Since the duration of degree, PG and PhD courses in Lithuania and Kerala is the same, it would be easier to cooperate,” he said.
