Senior Congress leader and former Kerala Chief Minister K Karunakaran was discharged from a private hospital on Thursday following improvement in his health after two weeks of treatment.

The 91-year-old leader, who was rushed to the hospital with high fever and breathlessness on November 12, has been advised complete rest for at least a couple of weeks, hospital sources said.

Mr. Karunakaran, four time Chief Minister and one of the senior most Congress leaders in the country, returned to his residence here with his son K Muraleedharan, who is awaiting clearance from Congress to rejoin the party after his exit from NCP.

Though Mr. Karunakaran’s condition was quite serious initially and he was in Critical Care Unit for the first four days, he recovered fast responding to medicines, the sources said.
