A four-member Karnataka Police team led by Circle Inspector Sitharamappa arrived in the State on Tuesday morning to take into custody People's Democratic Party leader Abdul Nassir Maudany in connection with a bomb blast case.

The team held discussions with Manoj Abraham, City Police Commissioner, and requested commando force to accompany them for moving to Anwarasserry, Kollam where Mr. Maudany is staying. The team then went to Kollam accompanied by six commandos. More commandos are expected to join them from Thiruvananthapuram. They are expected to take Maudany into custody on Tuesday itself.

The Kollam police will provide all necessary support for the Karnataka team as required by the law, said Harshita Attallury, Superintendent of Police, Kollam.

Considering the gravity of the situation, extra forces will be mobilised from the neighbouring districts. Police have been put on high alert in the district especially in the sensitive areas, Ms Attallury said.
