Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliar, general secretary, All India Sunni Jamiyyathul Ulama, held discussions with Saudi Arabian Labour Department Director General Ahmed Humaidan in Riyadh early this week.

Mr. Aboobacker Musliar said that during the discussions, he had raised the issues concerning thousands of Keralites in the wake of the Nitaqat rules in Saudi Arabia.

He said Dr. Humaidan had assured him that the new labour rules would not adversely affect the vast majority of Indians, and they continued to play a vital role in the development of the kingdom.

Mr. Aboobacker Musliar asked Dr. Humaidan for special consideration for thousands of Indians working away from their sponsors in Saudi Arabia. He demanded that the rules and regulations for change of sponsorship and profession be simplified.
