Kanam visits family of slain security guard

March 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - Thrissur:

The life of the common man was not safe under the Oommen Chandy government, CPI State secretary Kanam Rajendran has said.

He was interacting with mediapersons here on Wednesday after visiting the families of Chandrabose, the security guard who was killed allegedly by businessman Mohammed Nisham at Puzhakkal, and of Shihabudheen, who was killed allegedly by RSS activists at Pavaratty.

“No effective steps have been taken against the accused in the Chandrabose murder case even though everybody knew who the murderer was. The accused has been enjoying many facilities even in the jail. Politicians and high police officials are colluding to help the accused. The same is the condition with Shihabudheen murder case,” he said. The RSS was trying to create a favourable situation for it by dividing society in the name of religion, he alleged. There have been planned attacks against minority communities. The violence rate has increased after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister. All secular forces should unite to fight against this, he said.
