Kanam defends MLA

July 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:01 am IST - KANNUR:

Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary Kanam Rajendran on Saturday said party MLA E.S. Bijimol’s alleged assault on Idukki Additional District Magistrate was to be treated as something that happened as part of a people’s agitation and protest to protect the people.

Speaking to a section of reporters at the Government Guesthouse here, Mr. Rajendran said the party would examine whether the alleged assault had taken place or not and discuss the issue with the MLA.

He, however, justified the MLA’s protest and said the issue would be handled legally. — Special Correspondent
