Kalamandalam Gangadharan cremated

In the presence of hundreds of people, the mortal remains of Kathakali singer Kalamandalam Gangadharan was cremated with full State honours in the compound of his house at Velinellur on Monday evening.

Gangadharan, 79, passed away at a private hospital here late on Saturday night. He had been ailing for some time.

The renowned Kathakali musician had retired from Kerala Kalamandalam in 1991 as its vice-principal. He was a winner of several Central and State awards for Kathakali sangeetham.

He is survived by his wife Sathiamma and two sons.
