Upping the ante against Government Chief Whip P.C. George for his continuous tirade against Janathipathya Samrakshana Samithi (JSS) founder and general secretary K.R. Gouri, the party has come forward with a demand to remove Mr. George from his post.
The State committee meeting of the party held here on Sunday passed a resolution in this regard. The party will hand over letters demanding the ouster of Mr. George to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, United Democratic Front (UDF) convener P.P. Thankachan and Kerala Congress (M) chairman K.M. Mani. The party will not attend the UDF meeting scheduled on April 2, if Mr. George continues in the post. If the April 2 UDF meeting did not decide on removing Mr. George, the JSS will hold a meeting and decide on future course of action.
The party meeting also registered its protest against ‘lack of serious response' from the Chief Minister, even after Mr. Goerge had used abusive language against Ms. Gouri. Talking to reporters, Ms. Gouri broke down once saying that nobody had so far used such abusive language against her. She said she would take legal measures against Mr. George for his remarks.
She, however, said that such behaviour would not stop her from working for the people and she vouched that she would work among the people till her death. ‘‘Whatever I had said about Mr. George are not allegations, but facts. I stand by my words. (She had said that a woman with a child had come to see Mr. George and that Ms. Gouri had intervened in the matter and settled the issue by making Mr. George pay money to the woman). It could be clear if one were to examine the documents of the (Kerala Legislative) Assembly,’’ she said.
Ms. Gouri came down heavily on the Chief Minister, who she said was reluctant to take action against Mr. George. ‘‘The Chief Minister had patted Mr. George on the shoulder after the latter made remarks against me,’’ she said.
