Journalists hail welfare fund scheme

The announcement of the constitution of a welfare fund for mofussil journalists made by Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac in the Kerala Assembly on Thursday was hailed by the Kerala Journalists Union (KJU).

In a statement here on Friday, KJU general secretary Sudha Namboodiri and State secretary U. Vikraman urged the government to accept their other demands like pension, medical insurance scheme and press accreditation at taluk-level for mofussil journalists.
