The chairperson of State Women’s Commission M.C. Josephine said here on Tuesday that she was prevented from visiting Akhila Hadiya at her residence by her father.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Ms. Josephine said that she had sought a report from the police on Akhila Hadiya’s father resisting the visit by the SWC chairperson, citing security risks.

She said that the father, Mr. Ashokan, should clarify what security risk was posed by the SWC’s visit to Akhila Hadiya.

She said that even though the chairperson of the National Women’s Commission said that Ms. Hadiya was happy even in her confinement at home, it could not be so as she was prevented from interacting with anyone outside her home.

Ms. Josephine said that she had asked the police to ensure that there were no undue pressure on Ms. Hadiya before she was presented before the Supreme Court. Similar instructions would be given to the authorities concerned to ensure the same, during her journey to New Delhi and during her stay there.
