Joppan’s remand extended to August 21

July 23, 2013 01:28 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 08:54 pm IST - PATHANAMTHITTA:

Judicial First Class Magistrate II Mohammed Raees on Monday extended the judicial custody of Tenny Joppan, third accused in the solar panel cheating case filed by R. Sreedharan Nair, to August 21.

Joppan was arrested from Chengannur on June 28 and has been remanded in the Pathanamthitta District Jail since June 29.

The court dismissed the bail plea of the accused, accepting the argument of assistant public prosecutor R. Pradeepkumar. He argued that Joppan was an influential person and hence granting him bail may adversely affect the investigation process.

Meanwhile, the court permitted the Special Investigation Team to interrogate the accused at the Pathanamthitta District Jail. Prasannan Nair, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Chengannur, who is also a member of the special investigation team, interrogated the accused at the jail later, the police said.
