Jayakrishnan murder: probe on fresh evidence

June 09, 2012 09:05 pm | Updated July 12, 2016 07:07 am IST - KOTTAYAM:

Kerala Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan on Saturday said investigation could be conducted into the murder of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader K.T. Jayakrishnan on the basis of fresh evidence, if any.

Speaking to the media here, Mr. Radhakrishnan said the government would also consider an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), if needed.

He said the government was monitoring the course of the investigation, which was at an initial stage. No decision would be taken in haste.

Mr. Radhakrishnan said investigation would continue based on the evidence that was being received on the political killings that had taken place in Idukki. It was up to M.M. Mani, former CPI(M) Idukki district secretary, to decide on whether to make himself available before the investigating team.

However, the future course of inquiry would be decided on the basis of directives of the judiciary.

Mr. Radhakrishnan said there would be no change in the Special Investigation Team investigating the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case even though Vinson M. Paul, Additional Director-General of Police, was proceeding on leave.
