The Janasree Sustainable Development Mission (JSDM) chairman M.M. Hassan has said that it is all set to become a major micro-finance institution in the State as it is going to take up self-employment training and agricultural activities in a big way soon.
Speaking at a reception here on Tuesday to the 'Sustainable Development Yatra' launched by the JSDM from Manjeswaram on October 2 and scheduled to conclude at Parassala in Thiruvananthapuram on November 1, Mr. Hassan said the yatra was intended to trigger a new perspective on the developmental issues facing the State. Stating that the JSDM's main objective was to create employment for the unemployed, he said that it would be a micro-finance institution by 2010. All Janasree units in the State would engage in job training initiatives and adopt cluster system for production and marketing. He also urged the JSDM units to prepare agriculture-based projects aimed at achieving food security in the State. The mission would also take up waste treatment projects and organic farming methods, he said, adding that that the Janasree Mission had a policy of service and development.
