Janasree Mission chairman M.M.Hassan on Saturday urged the Government to extend encouragement and support to the mission and its society-oriented activities instead of creating hurdles to its development initiatives.
Mr. Hassan was addressing a reception accorded to the State-wide vehicular campaign for sustainable development of Janasree Mission at Thiruvalla. According to him, Janasree Mission has got as many as 40,000 self-help groups across the State and those who oppose it were afflicted with `political cataract’.
He said the ongoing campaign for mobilising popular support for a sustainable development perspective has been getting very good public response.
``Deliverance from dependence to self-reliance is the motto of Janasree Mission. It has no politics at all and was not formed to promote the interests of a political party. Development of the State and society is its main agenda,’’ said Mr. Hassan.
Prof P.J.Kurien, Rajya Sabha Member, inaugurated the meeting. Anto Antony, MP, released the development plan prepared by the Janasree Mission district unit on the occasion.
Fr. Abraham Mulamootil, Principal of Mar Athansios College For Advanced Studies Thiruvalla (MACFAST), P.S. Nair, entrepreneur and Ratheesh Namboodiri, farmer, were presented with Janasree Mission Awards on the occasion.
Mannar Abdul Latheef, KPCC secretary, Lathika Subhash, Janasree Mission central committee member and Prof. Satheesh Kochuparambil, District Congress Committee vice-president, also spoke.
Satheesh Chathankary, Janasree Mission block co-ordinator, presided over the function.
