Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) workers staged a dharna in front of the office of the Inspector General of Police (Kannur Range) here on Wednesday demanding that the investigation into the mysterious death of Islamic scholar and Khazi of Chembirikka and Mangalore P.M.

Abdulla Moulavi on February 15 be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The moulavi, aged 75, had been found drowned on the beach at his native Chembirikka in the early hours of February 15.

The dharna was organised by the Kasaragod district committee of the IUML to air its protest against alleged lack of transparency in the police investigation into the case. The dharna was inaugurated by IUML

leader Panakkad Syed Sadikhali Shihab Thangal. IUML leaders Cherkalam Abdulla and V.K. Abdul Khader Moulavi also addressed the protestors.
