Kerala Congress (Democratic) [KC(D)] chairman Francis George has said that the issue of the Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor M.K. Damodaran appearing for other clients, including lottery dealer Santiago Martin, is only a question of propriety.
Speaking to media persons here on Friday, Mr. George said there was no need to drag the name of the Chief Minister into the controversy. There was nothing wrong either legally or technically. “He (Mr. Damodaran) is neither a government official nor someone who gets paid for the work. However, in the backdrop of the controversies, Mr. Damodaran can have a rethink on the issue, if he thinks so,” Mr. George said.
The KC(D) chairman wanted investigation into all allegations of corruption, including the bar licence bribery case. According to him, the Vigilance giving a clean chit to Kerala Congress (M) leader and former Finance Minister K.M. Mani was meaningless since the advocate was appointed by Mr. Mani himself.
