I-T searches at actors' houses to resume tomorrow

The searches made by Income Tax officials at the residences of leading Malayalam actors Mammootty and Mohanlal have been temporarily concluded, it is learnt.

The searches were on at 16 places simultaneously since Friday early morning. "We were basically looking at the mismatches in returns filed and investments made by them," R. Mohan, Additional Director General (Investigations), Income Tax, told The Hindu .

Mammootty who arrived here on Friday night from Chennai was questioned by I-T officials till 3.30 a.m. on Saturday. The searches are expected to resume on Monday.

Sources close to Mammootty told The Hindu that he was quizzed about his investments. He had produced the bank statements related to withdrawal of Rs. 22 lakh found in his Chennai residence. Documents related to his investments were also presented to I-T officials, they said.

The actor will be available in Kochi for next two days, related to shooting schedules, they said.
