Intensify Coast Guard patrol, demands Alappuzha Bishop

Alappuzha Bishop and chairman of Costal Area Development Agency for Liberation (CADAL), Stephan Athipozhiyil demanded Government to intensify the surveillance of Coast Guard off Kerala coast to prevent any untoward incidents like that happened when an Italian cargo ship shot dead two fishermen on Wednesday.

In a statement here on Friday, the Bishop demanded that those responsible for the shooting be brought to book immediately. He also conveyed his grief and condolence to the families of Jelestin and Pinku, two fishermen who were killed in the shooting off Neendakara coast on Wednesday.

The Bishop also praised the Government for immediately sanctioning Rs 5 lakh each to the family of the deceased.
