Chief Secretary Bharat Bhushan has said that the government will take up construction of an integrated check-post at Walayar to end traffic blocks and the alleged corruption in its functioning.
Talking to media persons in Palakkad on Saturday, he said once the land acquisition is cleared by the court the construction of the integrated check-post will begin.
He said for speedy clearance of goods vehicles, a scanning machine and weighing machine will be set up at the check-post.
He said that after the introduction of Value Added Tax (VAT) system the taxes could be paid in advance online. This will ease the congestion at Walayar check-post. He said that at present the trucks and goods operators are reluctant to bring goods through the inter-state Walayar check-post due to undue delay in clearing vehicles.
This situation should change for which there should be co-ordination among the departments of commercial taxes, motor vehicles, excise and forest.
