‘Thambu’, a voluntary organisation working among tribespeople in the Attappady Hills, has sought an inquiry into the circumstances that led to the death of 35 tribal infants of malnutrition during the last 16 months.

In a statement here on Saturday, Thambu president Rajendra Prasad and convener K.A. Ramu said no inquiry had been conducted so far into the death of infants.

They sought an inquiry into the spending of Rs.500 crore for various welfare measures of the 30,000 tribal people in Attappady Hills by the Central and State governments during the last 15 years.
