Innocent, MP, observed a hunger strike on Saturday in front of the Chalakudy railway station alleging that the Centre was neglecting rail development of the constituency.

He alleged that trains, including newly allotted Palaruvi Express, did not have stops at major railway stations in the constituency.

Protests would be intensified if the Centre failed to consider the demands favourably, he said.

A protest, coordinating all parties, was needed to get the benefits, he added. CPI(M) central committee member M.C. Josephine presided over.
