India in transformation mode: Minister

May 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - KASARAGOD:

Union Environment and Forests Minister Prakash Javadekar has said that the country has achieved tremendous transformation in various sectors during the one-year tenure of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

Inaugurating the district-level celebrations to mark the first anniversary of the BJP government at a public function here on Thursday, Mr. Javadekar said his party would grow in stature ahead of the 2016 Assembly elections in the State.

He said the government had brought in efficiency in various sectors. The Modi government managed to provide a clean administration bereft of corruption charges, Mr. Javadekar said. The previous Congress government was steeped in corruption in key sectors such as telecom and coal, and in hosting the Commonwealth Games

He said the country had lost crores of rupees due to the ‘weak and inefficient’ government headed by Manmohan Singh.

The BJP government, by cancelling the agreements and contracts in coal and spectrum allocation, had helped the nation save crores of rupees, he said.
