India has ignored Mahatma Gandhi’s principles and ideals, former Supreme Court Judge V.R.Krishna Iyer said here on Friday.
“We have ignored Gandhiji’s principles and ideals, except his name,” Mr. Iyer said after inaugurating the All India Chartered Accountancy Students conference here.
“The young generation has the responsibility to reconstruct India free from corruption, communalism and other vices,” he said, adding that it is the responsibility of the youth to “reconstruct India and see that we regain our moral values and integrity“.
“Integrity can be preserved by ensuring that money is spent without corruption, disappropriation or fraud.
Corruption has entered all spheres, including the legal profession,” he said, and urged the students to ensure that every rupee collected by tax are honestly spent.
About 1,500 students from various across the country and neighbouring Nepal and other Asian countries are participating in the two-day conference.
