Transport Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has said that Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employees who help in earning profit and behave decently with commuters will be given incentives and other benefits. Inaugurating the renovated operating centre of the KSRTC at Moolamattom on Monday, he said political leaders should chip in for the success of the “Save KSRTC” campaign. Mr. Radahakrishnan said that salaries of empanelled drivers and conductors would be increased.
The minister said that with the fall in oil prices, the KSRTC could reduce working cost by Rs.16 lakh. Of this, Rs.4 lakh was set apart for providing free travel to students up to Plus Two level.
The loan amount from the Kerala Transport Financial Development Corporation (KTFDC) would be repaid by next year, he said.
