In Kerala, 37.94 lakh register at job exchanges

As many as 37,94,016 job applicants, including 88,136 with professional qualification, have registered themselves at employment exchanges in Kerala, Labour Minister Shibu Baby John told the Assembly on Friday.

Replying to a question by K.V. Vijayadas, he said 14,27,975 applicants, including 1,882 doctors, 24,065 engineers, and 9,960 nurses, had registered for jobs through employment exchanges since the UDF came to power. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala told the House that the police had registered 1,248 cases against money chain operators and arrested 454 persons in this connection during the term of the UDF government.

As many as 680 cases of visa fraud had been registered and 547 arrested, he told C. Raveendranath.

Mr. Chennithala said that 75 cases had been registered and 33 held for online fraud.

The raids against money chain operators had yielded Rs.109.97 crore in cash and Rs.37.59 lakh as cheques.
