Ameerul Islam, the 23-year old Assam native arrested on charges of raping and murdering a Dalit law student in Perumbavoor, will be produced for an identification parade on Monday.

Officials said Shibu Daniel, Judicial First Class Magistrate, Kunnumpuram, would conduct the identification parade at the Kakkanad district jail.

“The magistrate’s permission to conduct the test has been handed over to the jail authority. The witnesses have been served summons to turn up for the examination,” officials said.

Earlier on Saturday, Ernakulam Rural police superintendent P.N. Unnirajan met Chief Judicial Magistrate S. Aji Kumar and filed the petition for the identification parade directly.

Considering the urgency in the matter, the Chief Judicial Magistrate court considered the petition first in priority during the day’s sitting.
