Vishu was celebrated with fervour at Sabarimala on Wednesday. Hundreds of devotees witnessed the auspicious Vishukkani at the Lord Ayyappa temple in the morning.

Melsanthi A(head priest) E.N. Krishnadas Namboodiri, assisted by other priests, arranged the Vishukkani with Kanikkonna flowers, fresh fruits, vegetables, paddy spikes, jewels, and gold, immediately after the Athazhapuja on Tuesday night. The sanctum sanctorum was opened for Vishukkani darshan at 4 a.m. on Wednesday in an atmosphere charged with the ‘Ayyappa Saranom’ mantra. The Vishukkani darshan came to a close at 7 a.m.

As per the custom, both Tantri (chief priest) Kandararu Rajeevararu and the Melsanthi offered Vishu-kaineettom (coins) to the devotees after Vishukkani darshan. A police team led by Superintendent of Police T. Narayanan streamlined the crowd right from Pampa.
