The ritualistic Kumbhabhishekom ceremony, in connection with the gold covering work on the walls and roof of the shrines dedicated to Maha Ganapati, Nagaraja and the Malikapuram Devi Temple, was held with religious fervour at Sabarimala Sannidhanam on Friday.

The Tantri, Kandararu Maheswararu, assisted by Melsanthi N. Vishnu Namboodiri and other priests, performed the Dravyakalasapuja at the Northern Mandapam at the Ayyappa Temple complex in the morning.

The golden urns carrying ‘dravyakalasom’ were taken out in a customary ceremonial procession with the accompaniments of the sacred Marappani and other temple orchestra around 9 a.m.

The Kalabhabhishekom was performed first atop the Lord Ayyappa Temple.

Installation of the golden cupolas (Thazhikakkudom) atop the gold-covered roof of the shrines dedicated to Maha Ganapati and Nagaraja was held prior to the Kalasabhishekom.

Installation of the golden cupola on the rooftop of Malikappuram Devi Temple was held, later.

The ritualistic ceremony came to a close with the tantri performing an auspicious Kalasaabhishekom, Kalabhaabhishekom and Maha Deeparadhana at the Ayyappa Temple, later.

The temple will be closed after the Athazhapuja on Saturday evening to be opened on Sunday afternoon for the 41-day Mandalam festival that begins on Monday.
