P. Hiba, who has won the first rank in the State medical entrance examination, has made it in her second attempt. She has dedicated her achievement to her father, P. Abdurahman Kutty, who died three years ago while working in merchant navy.

Future plans

Hiba is keen to join MBBS at the Government Medical College, Kozhikode. But she is waiting for the results of the All India Medical Entrance Examination. She would not be in two minds if she gets admission at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

Her house at Thurakkal, Manjeri, plunged into jubilation as relatives, friends, politicians, and cultural leaders started coming to congratulate her soon after the results were announced on Wednesday.

Among them were P.V. Abdul Wahab, MP; IUML district president Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal; and Manjeri municipal chairman Vallanchira Mohammedali.

A surprise

Hiba had not expected the rank. “I was confident that I could make it to a government medical college in the State,” she said, without hiding her surprise at winning the first rank.

After passing the higher secondary examinations with 98 per cent marks from the Government Higher Secondary School, Manjeri, last year, Hiba spent a year preparing intensively for the medical entrance.
