The Kozhikode Judicial First Class Magistrate Court (I) on Thursday posted to February 5 for further hearing the petition filed by Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan seeking to hear his views on the report filed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that probed the allegations of businessman K.A. Rauf in the Kozhikode ice-cream parlour sex scandal case.

The case relates to the SIT submitting a report before the court stating that it had not found sufficient evidence to charge-sheet any person, including Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty, on the allegation that the accused in the sex scandal case had entered into a conspiracy, influenced the victims by offering them money, forged documents, destroyed evidence, and fabricated evidence to win the case in 2006.

Previously, Magistrate P.T. Prakashan had issued orders directing the prosecution to provide copies of the documents and statements of witnesses in the sex scandal case to Mr. Achuthanandan by January 17. This was after Mr. Achuthanandan requested copies of the statements of witnesses submitted to the court by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP), Thamarassery, Jaison K. Abraham, who investigated the allegations of Mr. Rauf.

Meanwhile, the State government has moved the High Court of Kerala against the order of the magistrate. The hearing on this petition has been adjourned to January 22.
