Health Minister seeks report on bribery charges

Health Minister K.K. Shylaja has sought a report into the bribery allegations levelled against two doctors at the General Hospital here.

It was alleged that the physicians demanded bribe from a Scheduled Tribe woman to perform uterus removal surgery.

Saraswati, a resident of the Madhur locality, was allegedly asked to discharge herself from the hospital after she reportedly refused to pay extra money sought by the doctors. The woman lodged a formal complaint with the Health Minister .

She also took up the matter with the District Collector, who ordered a preliminary inquiry by the District Medical Officer (DMO).
