The Kerala High Court on Friday granted bail to Tenny Joppan, a former staff member of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's office, and actor Shalu Menon in the cheating cases relating to the solar scam.
Justice S.S. Satheesachandran, while granting bail, observed that allegations had been levelled not only against Saritha Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan, the other accused in the case, but against certain other persons as well. Some of the officers in the Chief Minister’s office had also come under the shadow of the solar scam, the court said.
The judge ordered that bail be granted to Tenny Joppan on his executing a bond for Rs.50,000 and two solvent sureties for the like amount. The other condition for bail for both of the accused were that they should not leave the State for six months or till the completion of the investigation. Mr. Joppan was asked to appear before the investigating officer as and when required.
Shalu Menon was asked to execute a bond for Rs 1 lakh and two solvent sureties for the like amount. The other condition was that she should appear before the investigating officer every Monday for 8 weeks or till the completion of the investigation.
The Advocate General submitted that he had no objection to bail being granted to Joppan as the investigation against him was almost complete.
